About us

Right, about us! Us, that is Tom Nieuwenhuis and Mariëlle Wiggerts. In 2010 we have left our appartment in the Netherlands and have settled in the south of Auvergne, in the French department Haute-Loire.

Why?

Why the Haute-Loire? Because the air is still pure here, the surroundings are quiet and the people are still kind. Lots of space and lots of nature. Beautiful sceneries, ancient volcanoes, idyllic rivers… Bye bye to traffic jams and pollution! To take one step outdoors and smell the scent of nature!

We have bought an ancient and authentic farm house that we have been and are still renovating. And part of it has become the holiday appartment Le Pinatou. It has been a lot of work to use ancient materials and to renovate it in the traditional style, but the result is beautiful!

And apart from that?

Apart from DIY-ing, we work hard. Marielle gives fitness classes and is a freelance translator. Tom builds not only gites, but also web sites, web applications, web shops, and other things with ‘web’ in it. His hobby is photography (as you can hopefully see on this web site).
